How to play movies in GameSalad

Hello,

Sorry I haven't posted much recently. But anyways, I decided to make a tutorial on how to play movies in GameSalad. It is a slightly onoying process though. But here we go. Here is the tutorial on how to accomplish this in video form. There are the instructions in text after the break.

To accomplish this, follow the following steps:

  1. Download Adapter from http://www.macroplant.com/adapter/ for free.
  2. Open it up.
  3. Install the requested plugins and get past the welcom screen and such.
  4. Download the video you want or open it in Adapter.
  5. Convert it to a .gif file under the movie type.
  6. Change the conversion properties to as low as you can.
  7. Record the FPS select.
  8. Start the conversion.
  9. Once completed, Control-Click on the file and select "Show output in Finder".
  10. Now go to your browser and go to http://gifninja.com/split-animated-gif/new
  11. Press "Select Files" and select the .gif file.
  12. Once the conversion is complete, scroll down to the bottom and click "Download Images".
  13. It will give you a .zip file. Open it.
  14. Drag all those images into the project images.
  15. Now create a new object the size of the video. Find the size by looking at one of the image sizes.
  16. Open the actor editor.
  17. Drag in the "Animate" behavior.
  18. Drag in all the images.
  19. Set the FPS to the recorded FPS.
  20. Run it! It works!

And that's it.

Thanks for reading!

How to change the actor body size...

Hello,

Here is a quick demo on how to simulator changing the actor body size. You can find the file here. The method I used is I created an actor behind it that size can change. The actor you want to display is set to the body actor's position using "Constrain". In the example, I set the body to visible for your understanding, but feel free to turn down the opacity.

Thanks!

Simple Pause Screen and Physics Template

Hello,

Here is a very simple pause screen and physics example. I just wanted to share this for the beginners around here, so have fun!

You can find it here.

My Fruit Ninja Sword Effect (and how to make a better one)

Hello,

I've created a not so good version of the Fruit Ninja blade at someone's request on the forums. You can see a video of it here:

Sorry it's a little choppy and the particles look much better when not choppy. But anyways… My meathod in this prject which you can find here was to set off particles in the opposite direction of my mouse at random speeds. It didn't work too well. But if you want a little more realistic version, here's how I would do the particles:

Fruit Ninja Sword

The way you would put the lower set of particles there is by setting the offset. I think someday I will attempt this meathod, but for now, I'll leave it up to you. I hope that helps!

Thanks!

Welcome to my new website!

Hello fellow coders,

Welcom to my new website! I do this with all my favorite programming languages for fun, so that's what I'm doing for Game Salad. On the GS (Game Salad) forums, I am @Zoyt On this blog, I will be posting my work that you can download and use for free, putting my favorite stuff from other people, graphics, sounds, music, tips, announcements, polls, etc. But be aware, this is a rough website right now. Please excuse any mistakes and report them to me on the forums. Also, if you have any suggestions, just LMK on the forums too.

What's to come in this website:

  1. Comments
  2. More detailed sections
  3. Theme improvements
  4. Anything else you suggest

Thanks!
